Welcome to PIte Green Methanol
PGM is a forward-looking initiative to produce green methanol from renewable energy, captured carbon dioxide and water. Based in coastal Norrland in northern Sweden, our plant will help decarbonise industrial processes and transport while contributing to local employment and climate leadership.

This website is your gateway to project updates, practical information, and open collaboration. Learn how we’re building a sustainable future — right here in Norrbotten.

About the Project

Pite Green Methanol AB plans to establish a new production facility on the coast of Norrland to produce a substantial amount of e-methanol every year. E-methanol is a climate-friendly alternative to fossil fuels, especially suited for transport and industrial applications. We are pursuing this project to support the global energy transition while fostering local economic development and industrial innovation in Norrland.

We are already partnering with committed offtakers across multiple sectors, including chemicals, sustainable airport fuel (SAF) and shipping, with a strong interest in long-term supply agreements. We welcome dialogue with investors, infrastructure operators, and technology partners who wish to join forces in creating a greener society.

About the Partners

Pite Green Methanol AB brings together three complementary partners with deep expertise in green hydrogen, renewable energy, and industrial project delivery. Together, the partners are developing a state-of-the-art facility in Norrland that combines world-class technology with deep regional integration.

Enercon

Enercon is a global leader in wind power and a trusted long-term partner in northern Sweden. The company offers proven expertise in engineering, procurement and construction contracting as well as project implementation, backed by strong local relationships.

Eternal Power

Eternal Power focuses on green hydrogen and its derivatives. Backed by the experience of its founders and parent company ILOS — a pan-European independent power producer — Eternal Power combines technical depth with access to financing and European hydrogen customers.

Motio Renewable Energies

Motio Renewable Energies leads project development with a strong understanding of the Swedish market and close connections to decision-makers from local to EU level. The team contributes years of experience in structuring and implementing renewable energy projects, including power purchase agreements and integrated energy solutions.

Technology and Process

Our production process combines carbon dioxide, water, and renewable electricity to produce electro-methanol, also known as e-methanol.

Biogenic carbon dioxide from a nearby source will be delivered to the site via pipeline.

Hydrogen will be made on-site by splitting water through electrolysis, powered by a mix of wind energy and grid electricity.
The hydrogen and carbon dioxide will then be synthesised into methanol using industrial processes.
The site will include supporting systems like water purification, cooling, steam generation, compression, nitrogen and instrument air, as well as systems for waste handling and fire protection. Temporary on-site storage is planned for hydrogen and methanol.

For the Local Community

We’re developing more than just an industrial facility – we’re building trust and long-term benefit for the local community. Located in an existing industrial area in coastal Norrland, the project has been carefully designed to minimise environmental and noise impacts. The site covers about 16 hectares, and a formal consultation process is underway. This includes opportunities for you to provide input on potential effects such as emissions, noise, traffic, or water use.

We use local infrastructure where possible and aim to create new employment opportunities in the region. For questions or comments, please contact us directly.

For Investors and Partners

Pite Green Methanol is developing one of Sweden’s first large-scale power-to-X (PtX) plants. Our planned capacity will put us at the forefront of sustainable fuel innovation in northern Europe. The plant is strategically located with port access, renewable electricity, and CO₂ supply infrastructure already in place or under development.

We’re currently in dialogue with several multinational companies, primarily within the chemical sector, air travel and shipping, aligning with global decarbonisation priorities. We welcome interest from investors, logistics operators and technology providers seeking to join a credible, forward-looking industrial venture in the Nordic region.

News and Updates

This section provides regular updates about our progress – from permitting milestones to consultation sessions and community events. We will share media coverage, new partnerships, and insights from the development team. We are committed to transparency and aim to keep both the public and our professional network informed at every step.
